Brooke + Ben had an elegant and modern wedding in the beautiful Pasadena, California at The Athenaeum at Caltech. I met Brooke and Ben through a friend referral and after chatting with them about their vision I immediately knew we were made for each other! A laid back (but ready for a good time) couple who just wanted to spend their day celebrating with their closest friends and family.

Pasadena Wedding at the Athenaeum

Located south-east of Pasadena, CA at the California Institute of Technology, The Athenaeum is a beautiful private club first opened in 1930. It’s become a popular spot for weddings due to the elegant architecture and spacious courtyard – ideal for outdoor spring/summer weddings.

Romantic Southern California Wedding Venue

I fell in love with this venue as soon as I got there. I’m a sucker for an elegant and modern style!! Brooke and Ben had spacious rooms at the venue to get ready in, and we found a beautiful small courtyard outside for their first look and romantics. It was a HOT day in September for us though (close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit!!!) so we had water and fans around the bride and groom constantly, and moved the reception inside to keep out of the heat as much as possible. The whole bridal party were champs in the heat, and it was great how accommodating the venue was to make sure everyone was well hydrated and cool!

Brooke and Ben shared with me that they most looked forward to just being married and enjoying life together. Their excitement for the day was contagious and anyone who spent time around them felt the love and warmth. Before the main ceremony, the couple decided to have a private one with just them and their wedding party, in the library. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment where they could really soak in the moment without hundreds of eyes on them. I absolutely loved this addition to their day, and hope to see more like this!
